The FIA will give qualifying for the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas a one-hour window for it to begin.
Due to heavy downpours in Austin yesterday, qualifying was postponed and rescheduled to start at 0900 local time (1400 GMT) on Sunday with the race to remain at 1400 local time (1900 GMT).
Formula One race director Charlie Whiting has confirmed they will wait one hour, if conditions are not suitable, to start qualifying. If the session cannot be started within the hour then qualifying will be cancelled.
The grid for the race will then be determined by the results from third practice meaning Lewis Hamilton would start on pole position ahead of Nico Hulkenberg and Valtteri Bottas.
Both Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen were hit with 10-place grid penalties due to engine changes meaning they would start 12th and 17th respectively.
2015 United States Grand Prix Grid if Qualifying does not take place:
Hamilton, Hulkenberg, Bottas, Sainz, Kvyat, Ricciardo, Rosberg, Massa, Perez, Grosjean, Maldonado, Vettel (10-place grid penalty), Alonso, Ericsson, Button, Rossi, Raikkonen (10-place grid penalty), Nasr, Verstappen and Stevens.
