# Friday practice session for Formula E season two

Formula E will run an additional 30-minute Friday practice session for the first time in Beijing, according to [Autosport](https://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/121435).

This additional practice session will take place at 1600 local time and is expected to feature for the rest of the season.

The teams requested an extra practice session to allow them to have additional time to test and ensure their new cars are working correctly.

The season one format which consisted of two practice sessions, four qualifying groups, and single race took place on Saturday only. The introduction of a third practice session means running will now take place on two days.

The additional running will allow manufacturers to test their new packages and allow race officials to test various things such as live timing.
