Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat says he extracted the maximum performance from the RB11, but it was not good enough for him to progress into Q3 in qualifying for the Russian Grand Prix.
Kvyat qualified 11th, one place behind teammate Ricciardo who progressed into the pole position shootout.
Kvyat was disappointed not to make Q3 at his home event but admits that it is ‘okay’ as he will get free tyre choice unlike teammate Ricciardo.
“I felt I did all I could this afternoon. Unfortunately, we only had one quick lap available on the last set of tyres so we had to go out a little bit later than we would have liked to.
The 21-year old says he hopes to finish in the points at his home event.
“Starting P11 is okay and at least it gives us a free tyre choice. I will fight hard and hope to finish in the points, which would be a good result.”
