Rossi hails ‘special’ debut race in Singapore

Formula One debutant, Alexander Rossi hailed today’s race as ‘special’ after finishing ahead of more experienced teammate Will Stevens in the Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

His achievement was made even more impressive when it was revealed that Rossi lost communication with his team halfway through the race.

“Everything was going well until around the midpoint of the race when I lost radio communications. This was particularly challenging because of the second Safety Car period and I wasn’t able to receive instructions from the team about when to unlap myself.”

The 23-year-old recovered well from a crash in practice and a poor qualifying to finish his first ever race in Formula One in 14th place just one place off team-mate Will Stevens best finish of the season.

Rossi finished by thanking his team for all their hard work.

“Despite that, I think we managed everything well and I’m very appreciative of all the effort put in by the team to make my Grand Prix debut a successful one.”

The first American Formula One driver since Scott Speed will be hoping for an even better race next weekend at the Japanese Grand Prix.
