Rossi and Stevens hit with grid penalties

Both Manor drivers Alexander Rossi and Will Stevens have been hit with five-place grid penalties due to gearbox changes.

Both Rossi and Stevens crashed on Friday in practice at the Marina Bay Street Circuit which damaged their gearboxes.

These grid penalties will have no effect to the two drivers as they are likely to qualify at the back of the grid.

Speaking after practice, debutant Alexander Rossi said he was pleased with his progress despite crashing in opening practice.

“It’s a shame that a small mistake overshadowed what for me was a very positive first day with the team here in Singapore. Prior to that, I was really pleased with how things were going, so I’m not too downhearted, although I have to acknowledge the supreme efforts of my car crew – both car crews in fact – in getting my car repaired so quickly.”
