Daniil Kvyat recovered from 18th on the grid to finish 10th at the circuit Red Bull say is their weakest.
“Monza was always going to be a tough weekend for us. Our race wasn’t too bad considering where we started on the track, because of our penalties,” the young Russia said after the race.
Ricciardo’s 8th place earned the team a double points finish – but Kvyat still narrowly leads his more experienced teammate in the drivers’ championship by three points.
“I didn’t see much action during the race but it was a positive result to finish in the points, down to good teamwork,”
After losing out to Williams at Spa and now Monza, Daniil hopes the higher downforce demands of Singapore will enable the RB11 to be a formidable force.
“We’ll have to come back stronger in Singapore, where the track characteristics should suit us better.”
With just 7 races to go in the season, Red Bull currently trail Williams by 75 points.
