After finishing on the podium at Monza in 2014, Williams driver Felipe Massa says he is hoping for a similar performance in this year’s race.
The Brazilian has one podium finish to his name and despite Williams starting the season much stronger than last season, recent races have been disappointing for them.
Despite Spa suiting Williams on paper, both Bottas and Massa struggled during the race and only came away from Belgium with a handful of points.
Monza is a circuit popular with the driver’s due to its unique layout and passionate Italian fans.
”Monza is one of the best circuits to drive – the layout is quick with some very fast corners. The local area is fantastic with good weather, great food and fans who are very passionate about Formula One.” said Massa.
After spending eight seasons as a Ferrari driver, Massa admits Monza and the Tifosi is still a special place for him.
”Standing on the Monza podium is very special and I’m lucky enough to have a lot of supporters in Italy.”
The 11-time GP winner added the circuit will suit Williams on paper but admits they will have to work hard to beat the likes of Lotus and Force India this weekend.
”Our car should be suited well to the characteristics of the circuit but we will have to work hard to make sure that we leave Italy with a good result.”
