# Rossi Has Haas Hopes for 2016

Alexander Rossi’s resurgence in form in the GP2 Championship has given him hopes that he can convince Haas that he deserves one of their race seats for the season ahead.

Despite only winning his first race of the season last weekend in the sprint race at Spa, the Californian driver is currently second in the Drivers’ Championship. He is 105 points adrift of hot prospect Stoffel Vandoorne but has confirmed to [Autosport](https://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/120510) that he has held talks with Haas.

This was revealed during an interview where he also confirmed that he is “one of 10 drivers they have” while also noting that “I don’t think anyone really knows where they’re at”. He was then quizzed on whether or not he believes he is one of the top contenders for the Haas seat he was confident as he said “I think so, I am doing the best job I can this year and I think I’m showing what I’m caping of”. He did admit though that he needs to “carry forward as much as we can” and “add more stars and stripes on the top step”.

Former Marussia driver Max Chilton is also in the frame for a driver with Haas. However the current Indy Lights driver is highly doubtful of his chances to of a race seat with the American team. He has said that “I have a strong feeling that it is going to be one young Ferrari driver”. This could actually be a very good prediction from Chilton as the Haas team will be a heavily Ferrari influenced project as the team will be using the Scuderia’s power units and wind tunnel.

Clearly though the Haas F1 team are covering all their options by keeping 10 drivers in the frame and it is possible that even they don’t know exactly who will drive for them and it looks as if that decision could be a last minute decision.
