Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel says McLaren-Honda have the resources to be title contenders in 2016.
In an interview with Marca, Vettel says McLaren and Honda have the resources and people to be title contenders thus expects them to be competitive in 2016.
Vettel cited the fact McLaren had the best chassis in 2012, however, reliability hampered Lewis Hamilton’s title charge against eventual winner Vettel and runner-up Alonso.
”I think they have the resources to be. McLaren are one of F1’s big guns. I think they had the best car as recently as in 2012. Honda are capable of supplying them with a really powerful engine, so I believe they can get back on track.” said Vettel.
McLaren have been consistently off the pace this season, with at least 2.5 seconds to make up on Mercedes. They may have the resources, but it is unlikely they will be able to close the gap to Ferrari, let alone Mercedes for 2016.
