Lewis hamilton has taken pole position for the 2015 Belgian GP.
The Brit has won the pole position trophy with a laptime of 1:47.197 around Spa Francorchamps – 0.458 quicker than his teammate, Rosberg, in second position.
Both McLaren cars competed in Q1, despite the guarantee of a back-row start. They finished 17th and 18th in Button’s favour – ahead of the two Manors. Felipe Nasr was the first of those eliminated in 16th.
Also in Q1, the Mercedes duo were the sole two drivers to use medium compound tyres for their 2nd run – and still finished first and second in the session.
In Q2, Kimi Raikkonen reported that something broke on the car and pulled over before he set a time. The Finn was out. Verstappen decided not to set a time, since he has a 10 place grid penalty, and was also out and behind Kimi – because the 17-year-old didn’t set any sector times.
This left 13 runners in Q2. Hulkenberg was disappointed to finish P11, considering his teammate made it through in 4th. Kvyat in 12th was also expected to progress due to the promise shown by the Red Bull. Marcus Ericsson finished 13th.
In the top ten shoot-out, Lewis struck first on the drivers’ first runs, and went even faster on his second lap. Nico finished half a second away.
Valtteri Bottas finished third, Grosjean qualified an impressive fourth for Lotus. Perez fifth for Force India on one of their strongest circuits, historically.
Ricciardo sixth, Massa seventh, Maldonado eight. Vettel will leave qualifying perhaps as disappointed as his teammate with ninth and Carlos Sainz Jr completed the top ten.
