“It’s better overall. Already towards the end of last year we were looking step-by-step better [financially], even if it was very small steps it was going in the right direction”, Kaltenborn told ESPN.
Last month Sauber confirmed both Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr would continue into 2016 with the team.
“If those steps had not been there, I guess these drivers would not have decided that they already wanted to talk to us and be in this team. So the basis is there and we are moving in the right direction.”
Sauber currently lies 8th in the constructors championship with 22 points – largely thanks to Felipe Nasr’s 5th place in Australia. Monisha is pleased with the driver performances and says the early announcement will avoid unhelpful rumors in the paddock.
“It just brings in a certain consistency and stability, of course, and it just calms things down. There are so many rumours around and our drivers then get questions and they don’t know what to say and what is right and what is wrong. It clarifies the situation, it’s transparent and now everyone knows and all those topics of speculation are over as far as we are concerned.”
