Daniel Ricciardo says he doesn’t regret making the move on Nico Rosberg which cost both their chances of winning the race.
Ricciardo explained: “We know we don’t have speed on the straights, but I knew were quick enough to win. I saw Seb wasn’t getting away so thought if I could get Nico I could get Seb.”
Ricciardo made a late braking move down the inside of turn one, but Rosberg cut back across on the exit. Ricciardo suffered a broken front wing and finished 3rd whilst Rosberg received a puncture and finished 8th.
“I came from a long way back. I thought it was clean but Nico came back, he touched my tyre and he touched my wing. We both ruined our chance of a win, but I wanted to leave it all out there.”
“We were resilient today. I put my heart into everything today – that is way Jules would have wanted it. I feel I gained some strength today and I owe this one to him.”
