GP2 championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne topped practice for ART Grand Prix in Hungary.

The 23-year old currently holds a 65 point lead over his nearest challenger Alexander Rossi and looks to be the man to beat once again this weekend.

Rio Haryanto was the ART driver’s nearest challenger albeit four tenths off the pace. The Indonesian currently sits third in the drivers’ championship but is a whopping 79 points off the lead. The DAMS duo of Alex Lynn and Pierre Gasly set the third and fifth fastest times of the session. Sauber F1 Team reserve and test driver Raffaele Marciello was sixth fastest ahead of André Negrão and Nick Yelloly.

After taking his maiden win last time out at Silverstone, Sergey Sirotkin will be hoping to replicate that this weekend. The Russian set the ninth fastest time of the session. Vandoorne’s nearest challenger, Rossi was only 11th fastest in practice and has a lot of work to do if he is to challenge Vandoorne for pole position.

On his first GP2 outing,  Sean Gelael set the slowest time of the session.
