Valtteri Bottas will run a new Mercedes-style front wing at the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend while team-mate Felipe Massa will not.
AMuS Formula One reporter Tobias Grüner confirmed to us that Bottas would receive the new front-wing due to being higher in the drivers’ championship however if a similar situation was to occur again later in the season, Massa would receive the upgrade first.
@ConMcDonaghF1 Only one version available for Bottas (better ranked driver in WDC). Massa will be preferred next time in similar situation.

Williams’ Chief Technical Officer Pat Symonds confirmed the reasoning for giving Bottas the front wing over Massa.
“From the start of the season we had a clear policy that at this stage of development we would only have one copy available,” explained Symonds.
“Then that will go to the driver that is placed higher at the time in the world championship. Should it happen again, then it goes to the other driver. It always alternates back and forth.”
