A day of mixed fortunes for the World Champions. Nico Rosberg set the fastest time with a 1:40.124 – half a second faster than the best FP1 time from 2014.
The session was interrupted 30 minutes in as Lewis Hamilton parked his Mercedes on the grass at turn 9. The engineers receiving no telemetry from his car earlier in the session. Mechanics disassembling the #44 car throughout the session.
Kimi Raikkonen finished 3rd just 0.37 behind the Mercedes and Vettel lined up 3rd.
It was a more promising session for McLaren. Button and Alonso both within 3 seconds of Rosberg’s time.
Both Marussia’s made good progress throughout the session despite being at the tail of the pack.
