Following rumours surrounding Force India’s absence from the Jerez test, it has now come to light that the Indian team could even miss the opening Grand Prix of the 2015 season.
Force India pulled out of the opening pre-season test, with the hope of giving themselves more time to develop the VJM08, but Ralf Bach, of Sport Bild and TZ Munchen, has stated that the reason for the team’s absence is “because it has no monocoque.”
According to Bach, the monocoque has not been delivered to the team’s base in Silverstone after failure to pay bills. He also claims that Force India’s total debt is in the region of 50 million euros, which includes pending payments to engine supplier Mercedes and tyre supplier Pirelli.
Bach is quoted as saying “Making the season opener in Melbourne is now virtually impossible.”
The VJM08 is due to be piloted by Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez.
