Force India delay car launch

Force India LaunchForce India have confirmed that the unveiling of their new challenger, the VJM-08, will happen after the first pre-season test at Jerez. Although a livery launch is taking place later this month in Mexico, the British based team has elected to run the car for the first time at the second test at Barcelona.

The VJM-08’s launch has been delayed to allow the team more development time, with the team’s technical director Andrew Green telling Autosport that the car will not suffer from missing the first four days. “There is an argument to say you are much better off using those three weeks to move the car along as far as development is concerned.” “There are advantages and disadvantages to both.” He also added that whilst reaching the first test last season was necessary due to the vast rule changes, he did not feel the team would be harmed like Lotus were in 2014. “It’s not that critical this season”.

He also told the magazine “In the last few weeks [of 2014], we were on quite a steep learning curve, which makes you think you should hold back.”

Force India will run the 2014 car, the VJM-07, at the first test but will use experimental parts. Force India retain their 2014 driver line up for this season, with Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez remaining at the team that finished sixth in the 2014 WCC.
