Lotterer raced at Spa earlier this season

Andre Lotterer could make a return to Formula 1 at the season finale Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The team, [which will race at the closing race after it](https://www.f1update.co.uk/F1/caterham-to-race-in-abu-dhabi/)[s crowd funding success](https://www.f1update.co.uk/F1/caterham-to-race-in-abu-dhabi/), need a new driver after regular racer [Marcus Ericsson terminated his contract](https://www.f1update.co.uk/F1/ericsson-terminates-caterham-contract/).

German Lotterer, 32, is a three-time Le Mans 24 hour race winner and[took over Kobayashi’s seat for the Belgian Grand Prix](https://www.f1update.co.uk/F1/lotterer-confirmed-to-replace-kobayashi-at-spa/), where he sadly retired on the first lap.

The Audi LMP1 driver told  *Autosport* “Caterham wants me to race at Abu Dhabi but I am not sure if I will take up the offer”.

If Lotterer declines, it is almost certain that Kamui Kobayashi will drive at the finale, as F1 regulations don’t allow for more than 4 drivers to race for a team in a single season.
