Andre Lotterer could make a return to Formula 1 at the season finale Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The team, which will race at the closing race after its crowd funding success, need a new driver after regular racer Marcus Ericsson terminated his contract.
German Lotterer, 32, is a three-time Le Mans 24 hour race winner and took over Kobayashi’s seat for the Belgian Grand Prix, where he sadly retired on the first lap.
The Audi LMP1 driver told Autosport “Caterham wants me to race at Abu Dhabi but I am not sure if I will take up the offer”.
If Lotterer declines, it is almost certain that Kamui Kobayashi will drive at the finale, as F1 regulations don’t allow for more than 4 drivers to race for a team in a single season.
