Nico Rosberg has took victory at the 2014 Brazilian Grand Prix ahead of his resurgent team-mate Lewis Hamilton and home boy Felipe Massa.
Jenson Button put in a strong result for McLaren in fourth, Sebastian Vettel was fifth for Red Bull ahead of the Ferrari’s of Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen. Nico Hulkenberg was eighth for Force India, the second McLaren of Kevin Magnussen was ninth and Valtteri Bottas rounded out the top ten.
The race only saw two retirements with Daniel Ricciardo suffering a suspension failure into turn one and a mechanical error for Romain Grosjean saw him retire just five laps from the end of the race.
Lewis Hamilton had to fight back after a spin in the mid part of the race in turn four. Similar to mistakes earlier in the year under braking, the Brit lost the rear and clawed back a seven second deficit to his team-mate but was unable to pass for the victory.
Elsewhere there were intense battles between Kimi Raikkonen and Jenson Button as they were battling wheel-to-wheel on the track, before the Brit eventually moved out ahead.
Raikkonen then had to hold off team-mate Fernando Alonso who was on 17 lap younger tyres but was made to fight for the place by the Finn. Alonso eventually got the move down into turn one but could not catch Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel in time.
Felipe Massa did not make his home podium easy. First, a five-second stop/go penalty for speeding in the pit-lane and then going into the McLaren pit box meant the Brazilian lost time but not enough to lose the place.
With double points in Abu Dhabi and just 17 points between Hamilton and Rosberg, the battle for the 2014 World Championship will go right down to the wire.
