Yesterday, it was announced by the Sahara Force India team that test and reserve driver Daniel Juncadella will return to official Formula 1 duty for Force India in Brazil as he will take part in FP1.
Juncaderlla who also had outings at Silverstone and Monza this season will replace Sergio Perez in Friday morning’s 90-minute session at Interlagos. In his interview with Autosport yesterday, Juncadella is happy and confident about his FP1 outing in Interlagos this weekend. Juncadella stated the following:-
‘I’m very happy to be given another chance to drive the car this weekend in Brazil. I feel confident after my outings in Silverstone and Italy and I look forward to continue gaining more experience with the team.
‘The Brazilian track brings back good memories, as I achieved two podium finishes back in 2008 when I raced here at the final two races of the Formula BMW American season, but I can’t wait to go back and see what it’s like to drive it in an F1 car!’
It is clear for all to see that Juncadella is happy to be given another chance driving the Force India at Brazil this weekend. Juncadella is confident that from his outings in Monza and Silverstone that he will be able to once again show what he can do in a Formula One and also gain more experience in the car and with the Force India team.
Juncadella appears to have a good racing record in 2008 in the Formula BMW American season around Interlagos and will be using this experience in FP1 this weekend and seeing what it is like in a Formula One car as he says himself and it will be interesting to watch how he performs in FP1 this weekend as a result.
Further on in his interview with Autosport, Juncadella says that his racing experience around the track will help him in his outings this weekend and publically thanks the Force India team for the opportunity. Juncadella added the following:-
‘The fact that I know the track and that I’m not new to the team anymore will definitely be two positive elements that will allow me to focus on my driving and on doing the best job possible for the team straight away.
‘After finishing my DTM season much stronger than we started it, I now look forward to my third FP1 outing and I’d like to thank Sahara Force India for this opportunity.’
With him having experience around Interlagos will ultimately help Juncadella around the track and also having some Formula One experience behind him already this season will also help him show what he can do in FP1 this weekend. From what Juncadella has stated in his interview, it is clear that he is confident that he will be able to show what he can do this weekend in the car and you could say that he is a good place with his driving too with his performance in the DTM series.
But overall, there is no question that Juncadella is happy to be given another opportunity to run in FP1 this season with the Force India team. It is clear that the Force India team have been impressed with what he has managed to achieve in Silverstone and Monza alongside his season in DTM, he has been given this chance as a result of that and another chance to show them what he can do in the car too.
And with Juncadella having experience with the car, the Force India team and also the Interlagos race track, this will only inspire and motivate him to do the best performance he can do in the car this weekend and you can be sure that he will be doing everything possible to achieve it too and showing once again what he can do in a Formula One car when given the opportunity that so many young drivers are chasing at the moment.
