Sebastian Vettel has said that his main attention is now on Sunday’s American Grand Prix, after the defending world champion admitted he is not looking forward to qualifying, and not being able to “go out and smash it.”

Vettel will start tomorrow’s race from the pit-lane after Red Bull confirmed they had to change the power unit in his RB10 car; which was his sixth of the season.

There were thoughts that Vettel would miss qualifying altogether to save mileage on the new power unit, but Red Bull team principal Christian Horner confirmed that Vettel will take part in qualifying one.

Speaking to ESPNF1 after Friday’s practice 2, Vettel said: “Well, the rules are the same for all of us no matter where you finished the year before, so you have to obey them,”

“It’s not great knowing you can’t go out and smash it in qualifying.

“Difficult for us but we knew it from the start so we focused solely on race preparation and hopefully we have a good comeback from the pit lane on Sunday.”
