Sebastian Vettel will be given another new chassis for the upcoming Singapore Grand Prix in two weeks time. It will be the fourth chassis the reigning world champion will use in 2014.
The German has struggled throughout 2014 and has been consistently out-performed by Red Bull team-mate Daniel Ricciardo.
Dr Helmut Marko told Germany’s Sport Bild: “The chassis in Monza was actually an older one that was used in testing at Silverstone. It (the change) was more for psychological reasons.
“Now he’s going to get a brand new one.”
Marko stated the problems Vettel faced on the harder tyres at Monza were unexplainable, “with the harder tyres he had inexplicable problems”.
On the other hand, team principal Christian Horner stated it was a difference in strategy rather than a difference in pace at Monza
“It has been a difficult year for Seb but that’s not been his own making,” he said.
“I think that Daniel’s just done incredibly well and I think all credit should be given to him for how he has driven this year.
“It’s going to be a fascinating final third of the year to see how it pans out.
“Certainly Sebastian seemed reasonably happy with the car in qualifying and in the early stages of the race.
“It wasn’t a lack of pace [in Italy] – it was just how their different strategies played out.”
Vettel will hope he can get on top of the RB10 by the end of the season.
