Teammates Nico Rosberg of Germany and Mercedes GP and Lewis Hamilton of Great Britain and MercedesToto Wolff believes that both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg know what they have to do during today’s Italian GP to ensure a clean race for both drivers.

Last time out at Spa, for the first time this season, Hamilton and Rosberg made contact on the second lap which caused Hamilton to have a puncture and his eventual retirement, whilst Rosberg suffered a damaged front wing. Wolff labelled the incident after the race as “unacceptable.”

Rosberg extended his championship lead with second place at Spa to bring the gap up to 29 points over Hamilton.

Wolff however expects both drivers to know where the limits are at Monza to get the best possible result for title leaders Mercedes.

“I think it is pretty clear where the line is for tomorrow [Sunday],” he told ESPN after qualifying. “And I have no doubt that this is how the race is going to pan out.

“You can see that the two of them are so professional and experienced, that after the discussions we had in the week after Spa it should be pretty obvious and clear about what is going to happen tomorrow.

“But we are going to have that discussion as always – the strategy discussion – and one of the points is going to be what is happening in the first couple of laps.”
