Massa delighted with first podium

_W2Q6013Felipe Massa has expressed his delight after finishing on the podium at the Italian Grand Prix earlier today. The Brazilian has not finished on the podium since his time at Ferrari where he finished third behind Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen at the 2013 Spanish Grand Prix.

Massa started fourth and overtook Hamilton at the start of the race. The 11-time race winner soon made light work of the Kevin Magnussen before being overtaken by Lewis Hamilton – the eventual race winner.

Massa came home third whilst team-mate Bottas recovered to fourth after a slow start.

“It was a fantastic race for me so I am really happy. I had a good start and passed Magnussen at just the right time.”

“I had to work hard to establish that position, sadly the Mercedes were still a bit quick, so we did the best we could. Monza is a special podium, and to hear the fans sing my name was amazing.”

Bottas congratulated his team-mate and was pleased that the team overtook Ferrari in the constructor’s championship.

”As a team we had a really good day and it was good to overtake Ferrari. I’m pleased to see Felipe get his first podium of the season, hopefully we can be up there together soon.”
