Fernando Alonso has said that his future still remains with Ferrari despite retiring from the teams home race at Monza from a suspected water pump failure.
The Spaniard was suffering from poor pace up until his retirement on lap 30. It is the first time Alonso has retired from a race this season, and only his second ever mechanical retirement with Ferrari.
The last time Alonso retired from a race was at the 2013 Malaysian GP.
However Alonso believes that one retirement will not make him change his mind and that the car failure will not affect how he feels about the Scuderia.
“No it’s a mechancial failure.
“I’ve been extremely lucky to finish a lot of races.
“I see Ferrari as my future and what is the project of Mattiacci.”
