16-year-old Max Verstappen is set to make history in 2015 as the youngest ever Formula 1 driver. He was recently confirmed as Toro Rosso’s second driver in 2015, alongside Russian Daniil Kvyat. Verstappen will be 17 when he makes his debut in Australia, next March.
This has left current Toro Rosso driver, Jean-Eric Vergne without a seat for 2015. It seems as though he will be left out in the cold like former Toro Rosso drivers; Jaime Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi.
Verstappen is currently racing in Formula 3. After moving up from Karting this season, son of former F1 driver, Jos Verstappen, is currently second in the F3 standings with eight wins in only his year of single seater racing.
Only recently has the young Dutch star been signed by Red Bull’s young driver programme. Toro Rosso are the junior team to defending champions, Red Bull.
