RRR_9386German Le Mans racing driver Andre Lotterer has reportedly been confirmed as a  replacement for Kamui Kobayashi at Caterham. The Japanese driver will be replaced by the three-time Le Mans winner at this weekends Belgian GP.

Lotterer won at Le Mans in 2011, 2012 and earlier this year.

This is not the first time Lotterer has been linked with an F1 drive. In 2002, he was announced as test driver for Jaguar and was given the chance to have a race seat for the team in 2003. However, Lotterer declined the offer.

Although he races Le Mans Prototypes, Lotterer has had recent experience of racing in single-seaters. In 2011, he won the Super Formula title and had further success in the class.

Finishing runner up in the Super Formula championship last year, helped Lotterer secure his super licence; which is needed to compete in Formula 1.

Racing with Caterham this weekend, Lotterer has received permission from World Endurance Championship team Audi, to compete.
