GP MALESIA F1/2014Kimi Raikkonen has said that the 2014 has been tough, after his first half of the season struggles, saying “that’s life.”

After two strong comeback years to F1 with Lotus, which saw two victories, Raikkonen has only managed a highest finish of sixth with Ferrari, at the Hungarian GP.

Despite his troubles, Raikkonen still believes that his speed and determination is there – the speed and determination that saw Ferrari choose to replace Felipe Massa with for this season.

“It’s been a difficult year but that’s life,” the 34-year-old said according to Autosport.

“It’s not fun when you have hard times but it’s happened before and that’s how it goes.

“We try to make things better all the time, make fewer mistakes, and get the car where I want it to be to be fast again.

“I know I haven’t suddenly lost over the winter a few seconds of laptime.”

After being knocked out in the first part of qualifying in Hungary by Ferrari Development Driver, Jules Bianchi, Raikkonen drove his best race of 2014 to finish sixth in Hungary.

Raikkonen has said that he is yet to have the “perfect” weekend so far.

“It’s a case of putting things in the right order for me,” he said.

“Unfortunately we haven’t managed to do it here and there.

“Sometimes we have one day, one practice, in some places where we are absolutely fine, but we’re still fighting against things a lot and obviously then the results show where we end up.”
