It has been reported that Marussia, a user of the 2014 Ferrari power unit, have found around 20 brake horsepower on the struggling engine.
Reports from Italy’s “Autosprint” have said that Ferrari may have to their customer for possibly finding extra power, with ‘power tracks’ such as Spa and Monza coming up. It is believed that “magic paint” being used, is able to get more power out of the Ferrari power unit.
Correspondent, Alberto Antonini believes this to be a simple solution thought up by back-markers Marussia, that is applied on the power unit as a shield and in return delivers more heat to the turbine, ultimately giving more power.
Autosprint reported that Ferrari engineers first wanted the idea to be tested on the power units used by their customer, Marussia.
It is also believed that, amid the strict engine development “freeze”, the FIA will let teams make slight changes during the mid-season change on the grounds of reliability.
