Ferrari confirm Marmorini exit

news_Luca-Marmorini-630x300Ferrari have confirmed that director of engine and electronics Luca Marmorini has departed after five years with the Scuderia.

The Italian team plot a return back to the sharp end of the grid after their difficult season so far, which sees them lie 3rd and 251 points behind runaway leaders Mercedes in the constructors standings and with only two podiums finishes to show for this year currently.

Ferrari have undergone a restructuring of their engine division with the Maranello-built power unit being established as a clear second best to the Brixworth-built power unit by Mercedes.

Marmorini’s departure sees Mattia Binotto take leadership as Chief Operating Officer of the power unit department, with Lorenzo Sassi supporting Binotto as the retained Chief Designer of the power unit department.

James Allison’s role as Technical Director remains unchanged amid the restructuring, with Chief Designer of Chassis Nikolazis working with him on the whole designing of the car.
