Sebastian Vettel - German GP - Hockenheim 2014

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel is looking to have another strong result in Hungary and end the first half of the season on a high.

The reigning world champion finished 4th in his home race last time out, with his 4th place in Hockenheim being the first time that he has crossed the line ahead of team-mate Daniel Ricciardo on-track , Ricciardo having suffered a late retirement in Malaysia when Vettel went on to claim one of his two podium finishes he has so far this season.

Formula 1 heads into its traditional mid-season break after the race in Hungary and the German is aware of the need for him and his Red Bull team to have a positive result to take into the break.

“The Hungarian GP is the last race before the Summer break so we will be working hard to keep up the momemtum and have a strong result to enjoy over the holidays.” said Vettel, who sits 6th in the championship standings and 24 points behind Ricciardo.

Vettel is also aware of the challenges the Hungaroring’s confined, bumpy nature and the Hungarian heat pose on the drivers.

“It has some tight, twisty corners and is quite a bumpy track, so you cannot underestimate it. It is normally hot in Hungary for the race which makes it a challenge to drive, but also makes a nice weekend for the fans watching.” Vettel added.

“I like the race and atmosphere at the Hungaroring, and have good memories of the races there even though I have never won in Budapest – it is still on my to do list!”
