Reports say that 7-time Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher could return home soon, after increasingly good progress after his move to a Swiss rehabilitation centre.
After a skiing accident at the end of December, the German spent over six months in an induced coma at the Grenoble hospital in France. He was transferred to the Lausanne clinic in June.
It is believed that Schumacher’s recovery is going so well that he may return home at the end of the month. It has been said that he is able to communicate with his family by moving his eyelids.
“There are signs that Michael will leave the clinic soon and be cared for at home,” Swiss newspaper SonntagsBlick has said.
The Mirror has also reported that “it is understood that while Schumacher remains paralysed, he is able to answer questions from his wife and children Gina-Maria, 17, and son Mick, 15, by fluttering his eyes”.
It continues saying that “doctors at the clinic in Switzerland hope to have Michael sitting upright in an advanced electronic wheelchair that he can control via his mouth within a few weeks”.
