GP GRAN BRETAGNA F1/2014Ferrari have confirmed that driver, Kimi Raikkonen, has full recovered after his heavy first lap shunt, last time out at Silverstone.

The Finn who won his only world title with the Scuderia back in 2007, lost control of his car on the opening lap after running wide onto the Wellington Straight and slammed into the armco barrier, collecting former Ferrari driver, Felipe Massa in the process.

After climbing out of his F14 T, Raikkonen limped away under the aid of marshals, but x-rays later revealed that he only received bruising to his ankle and knee and no serious injury, that could have ruled him out of this weekends German GP.

Raikkonen was scheduled to take part in the mid-season test at Silverstone, in the days following the race, but Ferrari took the decision to rest him and fill in the void with reserve driver Pedro de la Rosa on day one of the test.

De la Rosa feels that Ferrari are in for a better second half of the season, after only one podium so far. They head to Hockenheim, with Raikkonen’s team-mate, Fernando Alonso having won the last two races there, in 2010 and 2012.

The 43-year-old said; “Race by race we are improving and we are not giving up on this year, even if we are also thinking already about 2015,” on Ferrari’s official website.
