Felipe Massa believes Williams have the potential to overhaul both Ferrari and Red Bull in the Constructor’s Championship. Currently Williams are in fourth position, three points behind Ferrari and sixty-five behind reigning champions Red Bull.
Massa looked set to finish fourth at the Canadian Grand Prix however a collision with Sergio Perez on the last lap forced both drivers to retire. Williams locked-out the front row at Austria and came home third and fourth. The Brazilian was eliminated on the opening lap of the British Grand Prix as he collected Kimi Raikkonen’s Ferrari.
“I think we always need to think about getting better, we improved step-by-step – we didn’t bring pieces that make the car completely different, we’re doing a good job on the development”
“In the last three races we were stronger than Red Bull and Ferrari. So if we are better than them in terms of pace, why can’t we fight with them? At the moment we are a few points behind Ferrari and a bit ahead of Force India and McLaren. We need to fight to stay ahead of them but also Ferrari – Red Bull is maybe a bit far but you never know.”
Massa’s best finish at the Hockenheimring came in 2010 where he finished second behind Fernando Alonso in controversial circumstances.
