Recent speculation
suggests that Adrian Sutil will be replaced by Giedo van der Garde for the upcoming German Grand Prix.
It is believed by some that Sutil’s sponsor’s have lost their patience with Sauber failing to provide Sutil with a car adequate to finish in the points on the regular basis thus withdrawing their sponsorship deals with the Swiss-based team. This withdrawal, if true, likely leaves a large hole in Sauber’s finances which needs to be plugged as soon as possible, potentially as soon as the German Gran Prix this weekend.
Sutil has recently de-activated his twitter account for reasons we are yet to be aware of. Esteban Gutierrez currently brings significant financial backing to the team and it is likely that any potential replacement for Sutil would have to do the same.
Van der Garde, who drove for Caterham in 2013, with his best finish of fourteenth at the Hungarian Grand Prix is the most likely replacement. It’s widely believed that Van Der Garde has significant financial backing which could be the answer to Sauber’s problems should he receive a race drive.
It should be noted, that this is all speculation and nothing has been confirmed by the team.
As of Monday morning, Sauber have confirmed Sutil will drive at the German Grand Prix.
