Piquet completes 2018 Trident GP3 line-up

Pedro Piquet has joined Trident for the 2018 GP3 season, completing its four-car line-up, alongside Giuliano Alesi, Alessio Lorandi and Ryan Tveter at the Italian squad.

Piquet – son of Formula 1 champion Nelson Sr – switches from European F3 in which he raced for Van Amersfoort Racing for two years between 2016 and 2017.

He has also finished second in the Toyota Racing Series in 2017 behind Thomas Randle, and completed the most laps of any driver during this year’s GP3 pre-season testing with 458.

“It is with great satisfaction that we announce the agreement signed with Pedro Piquet, a highly-talented driver who will certainly impress and aim for some prestigious results in our team’s colours,” team principal and owner Maurizio Salvadori said.

“I am sure that, with Trident, Pedro will find the right chemistry to show his full potential.”

“I am very enthusiastic about my first GP3 season under the Trident banner,” Piquet added.

“It is a winning squad that year after year confirmed its position among the series’ frontrunners.

“I am sure I will find everything I will need to be a contender even in my debut season in the series.”

The Brazilian is the 20th competitor to be named for the series’ final campaign ahead of the opening weekend at Barcelona on May 11-13.
