Pulcini fastest as Jerez GP3 test concludes
Campos’ Leonardo Pulcini has gone fastest on the final day of the second GP3 pre-season test at Jerez as preparations for the 2018 season continued.
The Italian set a lap time of 1m30.255s in the afternoon to top the timesheets by 0.208s, finishing ahead of Pedro Piquet, as track conditions improved throughout the day after the morning session contained a damp track.
ART duo Jake Hughes and Anthoine Hubert slipped to third and fourth late in the session after battling for superiority.
Sauber Formula 1 test driver Tatiana Calderon ended in fifth above Ferrari academy racer Callum Ilott.
Ilott set the best lap in the opening session as the only driver to get into the 1m31s bracket.
His Ferrari colleague Giuliano Alesi was seventh, with MP team-mates Niko Kari and Dorian Boccolacci eighth and ninth.
Simo Laaksonen completed the top 10, with Force India F1 tester Nikita Mazepin 11th.
Just one more pair of test days remain for the category’s competitors on April 17-18 at Barcelona as the final plans are put in place before the campaign begins at the same track in May.
