British Formula 3 front runner Ben Hingley will make the step up to the European Formula 3 championship with HitechGP this year.
Hingley, running with Fortec Motorsport, claimed four victories and seven podiums on his way to third in the British championship in 2017.
He went on to make his debut on the international stage at the end of last year, when he competed in the second half of the Euroformula Open championship with Fortec and finished 11th overall.
Now the BRDC Rising Star hopes to continue that momentum into the European F3 series.
“I’m really excited to be racing with HitechGP this year in FIA F3,” Hingley said.
“Hitech are an exceptionally professional team in the way they work and operate and I’m really delighted to be working with them this year.”
Hingley joins British F3 rival Enaam Ahmed and Alex Palou at the team for the 2018 season, which is set to begin in May.
He has already begun testing with Hitech over the winter break, where his speed and ability impressed the Silverstone based squad.
“We are really happy to welcome Ben to the team,” said team principal Oliver Oakes.
“He was a worthy adversary with Enaam in British F3 this year.
“His recent GP3 tests in Abu Dhabi and the recent tests with us in F3 were very impressive and made us confident in him making the step up to FIA F3 for 2018.”
