Sauber Formula 1 development driver Tatiana Calderon will make her Formula V8 3.5 debut at the season finale in Bahrain this weekend.

Calderon, who is currently 17th in her second year racing in GP3, will reunite with RP Motorsport for the final round of the FV8 3.5 season.

“I’m very much looking forward to competing in Bahrain in Formula V8 3.5,” said Calderon.

“It’s a great car to drive and Bahrain is one of my favourite tracks.

“It will be my first race with a pitstop, which will be interesting, and the Michelin tyre is also quite a bit different to the Pirelli rubber I am used to in GP3.

“There will be a lot of things to learn but it will be a useful experience and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

The Colombian raced with the Italian outfit in Euroformula Open last season, alongside her maiden GP3 season.

Calderon will join Roy Nissany and Yu Kanamaru in Bahrain, for her second taste of the series following a solitary test back in 2015.

After competing this weekend, she will fly straight to Abu Dhabi for the final round of the 2017 GP3 season.

Her team-mate Nissany heads to Bahrain as one of six drivers in mathematical contention for the drivers’ championship.
