Marquez fastest as conditions leave Rossi and Lorenzo in Q1
Marc Marquez topped a wet FP3 session that saw no riders improve on their previous times.
The conditions meant that Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo will both have to go through Q1 if they are to start in the top twelve for tomorrow’s race.
On combined practice times, Aleix Espargaro continued to head the field after his FP2 time yesterday. Marquez was second, with Dovizioso third. Crutchlow was fourth, with Vinales fifth.
Jack Miller will head into Q2, after finishing sixth on combined times. Andrea Iannone was seventh, with Johann Zarco eighth. Dani Pedrosa was ninth, with Pol Espargaro being the final rider making it into Q2 automatically.
This means that Rossi and Lorenzo will have to fight to make it into Q2 later on, after disappointing during Friday practice. Lorenzo also crashed during FP3, along with Marquez and Zarco.
Conditions yet again play a big part in proceedings at Phillip Island. The riders will head out later to decide the grid for tomorrow’s race in Qualifying.
