Prema Powerteam’s Callum Ilott set the fastest lap in the final European Formula 3 practice session of the season, whilst championship leader Lando Norris beat rival Maximilian Gunther.

Ilott was one of only two drivers to set a lap time faster than 1m32s around the Hockenheim circuit. His 1m31.891s lap was set late in the second practice session and put him just three hundredths of a second clear of Joel Eriksson in second.

Norris, after topping the times in the first session of the day, claimed third fastest with a time three tenths of a second quicker than his FP1 performance. It was just seven hundredths of a second faster than Gunther, who was fifth fastest, behind Mick Schumacher.

After mechanical problems limited running in FP1, Guanyu Zhou took sixth fastest ahead of Pedro Piquet, Ralf Aron, and Jake Hughes.

Joey Mawson was the only man not to improve on his FP1 time in the second practice session. The Van Amersfoort driver was second fastest in first practice, but the 1m32.330s lap time was only good enough for 10th fastest overall.

F3 newcomers Juri Vips and Felipe Drugovich finished 14th and 16th fastest, with Vips the fastest of those joining the championship late in the season.
