Sebastian Buemi was quickest on the second day of testing in Valencia ahead of the 2017/18 Formula E season.

The season two champion set a 1m21.890s in the morning which would help him stay at the top of the timesheets till the chequered flag.

Buemi’s pacesetting lap was over three seconds slower than Oliver Turvey’s Monday benchmark due to the introduction of a second chicane on the start/finish straight after multiple complaints.

Felix Rosenqvist and Sam Bird set the second and third fastest times of the day, both coming within a tenth of Buemi’s time. Turvey and Nico Prost rounded out the top five.

Reigning champion Lucas di Grassi was sixth quickest and was one of only a handful of drivers to set their fastest lap of the day in the afternoon session.

Daniel Abt set the third quickest time of the afternoon and the seventh fastest of the day. Jerome d’Ambrosio, Mitch Evans and Nelson Piquet Jr completed the top 10.

Former Formula 1 driver Rio Haryanto completed his first Formula E test during the lunch break in an upgraded version of the series’ season one car.

James Rossiter, who is being evaluated for a potential race seat, crashed his Venturi at the chicane leaving him 20th on the timesheet.

Fellow DTM driver Edoardo Mortara and Michael Benyahia also tested for the team on Tuesday with Maro Engel set to return to the cockpit on Thursday.

Thursday marks the final day of the only official collective test ahead of Formula E’s fourth season.
