Honda junior Nirei Fukuzumi has gone fastest in the practice session ahead of the Monza GP3 round, heading an ART 1-2-3-4.

Fukuzumi set a lap time of 1m38.594s to top the timesheets by 0.099s ahead of championship leader and Mercedes Formula 1 protege George Russell.

Anthoine Hubert and Renault academy driver Jack Aitken lapped within a tenth of Russell’s time.

Trident’s Dorian Boccolacci did once reach the top but slipped to fifth above Arden duo Steijn Schothorst and Leonardo Pulcini.

Haas development racer Arjun Maini ended the session in eighth, with Alessio Lorandi ninth.

Red Bull-backed debutant Dan Ticktum started his spell in series by completing the top-10, 0.638s adrift of the Japanese’s time.

Juan Manuel Correa started his second weekend in the category in 12th, competiting at a track he has experience at after driving on it in the Italian Formula 4 championship.

Ticktum’s junior team colleague Niko Kari was 14th, while Sauber’s development driver Tatiana Calderon was 19th.
