Andrea Dovizioso managed to just beat Marc Marquez to take victory at the Austria GP.

Dovizioso and Marquez were involved in a tight and tense battle throughout the race, the pair locking horns around the Red Bull ring. It all came down the final corner, where Marquez managed to get round the Italian before going wide, allowing Dovizioso through to take the victory.

Behind them was Dani Pedrosa. The Honda rider rode a solid race, fighting through the pack to eventually join his teammate on the podium. Pedrosa was able to leave behind Jorge Lorenzo, who led the pack for a number of laps. The Ducati rider would finish fourth.

Fifth place would go to Johann Zarco. The Frenchman was able to best fellow Yamaha riders Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi, the Movistar Yamaha pair finishing in sixth and seventh respectively.

Alvaro Bautista was the eighth rider across the line, with Loris Baz putting in a shift to finish in ninth. Mika Kallio, KTM’s test rider, was tenth, outperforming both of the regular KTM riders at their home race. Andrea Iannone was eleventh whilst Scott Redding was twelfth.

The result cuts Marquez’s lead in the championship down to 16 points, going into the British GP at Silverstone. We’ll have live coverage from Northamptonshire in two weeks time.
