Franco Morbidelli takes pole after session red flagged
Franco Morbidelli took yet another pole position at Assen for the Moto2 Dutch TT tomorrow.
The Italian struggled last time out at Catalunya, so will be delighted to have returned to form so quickly.
The session was halted early on after a nasty crash for Lorenzo Baldasarri. The Forward Racing rider suffered a big high side and was taken to the medical centre. He was conscious and will have further scans to determine the severity of his injuries.
Takaaki Nakagami will line up alongside Morbidelli on the front row, with the Japanese rider narrowly missing out on the top spot. Tom Luthi joins the pair in third.
Miguel Oliveria heads up row two, alongside Fabio Quartararo and Xavier Simeon. Mattia Pasini crashed twice, but it didn’t stop the Italian from qualifying seventh for tomorrow’s race. Alex Marquez also crashed, so will start from eighth.
Marcel Schrotter and Axel Pons will start from ninth and tenth respectively.
Moto2 will have a different race time on Sunday, with action getting underway at 13:30 BST instead of the usual 11:20 BST.
