Dovizioso manages conditions to end Friday on top
Andrea Dovizioso was able to manage the conditions at a wet Le Mans circuit to take first position in the second free practice session.
Continuing on from a downpour in the second Moto3 free practice, the track conditions were pretty treacherous going into the MotoGP session.
Ducati riders dominated in the wet, with four of the top six finishers riding a Desmosedici. The Pramac pairing of Scott Redding and Danilo Petrucci did a lot of laps and were leading the way for the majority of the session.
This was before conditions started to improve, allowing a lot more riders to improve including Dovizioso.
Therefore Dovizioso would take first, with Marc Marquez and Danilo Petrucci finishing behind him in second and third.
Scott Redding was fourth, whilst Andrea Iannone finished fifth. Alvaro Bautista finished in sixth, ahead of the top rider in FP1 Jack Miller.
Maverick Vinales was eighth, with Sam Lowes impressively finishing in ninth place. Valentino Rossi was disappointing, finishing in tenth place.
The MotoGP boys will be back on track tomorrow, where they will decide the grid for Sunday’s French GP.
