Dillmann to replace Engel in Paris
Reigning Formula V8 3.5 Champion Tom Dillmann will get the opportunity to make his Formula E debut as he substitutes for Venturi’s Maro Engel in next month’s Paris ePrix.
With Mercedes driver Maro Engel set to miss next month’s Paris ePrix due to his DTM commitments, Venturi have opted to bring in someone who has had experience with the Venturi VM200-FE-02 before, with Dillmann previously replacing Engel’s Venturi team-mate Stephane Sarrazin in the shakedown for last month’s Mexico City ePrix.
“I’m delighted with having the chance of contesting the race in France as Venturi`s reserve driver,” said Dillmann.
“Formula E is an exciting place to be for a driver – with thrilling motor racing and interesting technical developments. It goes without saying that it’s my goal to contest a full season in this series in the future.”
“Tom already impressed us with his professionalism in Mexico where he intensely dealt with the team and the approach of the engineers,” added Venturi co-owner Marc Gindorf.
“This will prove to be helpful for him in Paris. We think that he represents our perfect choice for this race.”
