Habsburg gutted after three pointless finishes
Ferdinand Habsburg was left gutted after a trip onto the grass sent him back through the field.
The Carlin driver had been making up positions after a poor start when a battle with Pedro Piquet forced him onto the grass, undoing the work he’d done.
“I dropped one or two places at the start,” he told Read Motorsport. “It wasn’t too bad because I found a good position around turn three and four. I’d overtaken two cars back so I was back in my original position. Then, on the exit, I got pushed off by Piquet into the grass. I lost all the positions and I was back to where I started yesterday, so I’m really gutted about that.”
Habsburg was able to recover and restarted the climb through the field from 15th. Though he believes the Carlin car was better than the HitechGP, he became stuck behind Jake Hughes in the later part of the race, before finally getting past with a risky move.
“Hughes was racing pretty well, not getting overtaken. I was getting annoyed so I just lunged at him and it worked out for me,” he said. “I quite fancy a bit of rubbing and racing so I’ve no problem with that, but it’s just gutting to fall back again and try to fight back again.”
The gutting race ends a frustrating weekend for Habsburg, and he leaves Silverstone without points.
