Norris ready for Ilott challenge
Carlin’s Lando Norris is ready for the challenge from Callum Ilott in the second race of the European Formula Three season.
Norris remained unchallenged throughout the first race, leading from start to finish, as Ilott crashed early in the race. The race winner isn’t expecting the rest of the weekend to go quite so simply, but he believes he has the pace.
“I’m going to have to race Callum tomorrow and he’s also very fast so it’s going to be tough,” Norris told Read Motorsport. “If I don’t get past him [off of the line], it’s going to be tough to get past him. If I do, it’l be tough to hold him behind.”
Ilott will start on pole for both the remaining races, but Norris will be joining him on the front row of the grid.
Getting ahead won’t be easy, but Norris is hoping the British weather will help him.
“Rain will make it a bit more interesting,” he said. “It showed between [Jake] Dennis and [Maximillian] Gunther that it’s pretty hard to overtake, and Gunther had much better pace. But in the rain you can overtake no matter what, so let’s hope for that.”
